Spotlight On: Calvin Klein
American fashion brand, Calvin Klein, are almost as famous for their controversial advertising campaigns as they are for their products. Founded by its namesake in 1968, their first fragrance, Obsession for Women, came in 1985 and was followed a year later by a version of the same name, this time for men. These fragrances were instantly successful and both products are still available and widely popular today.
Calvin Klein’s most famous scent is undoubtedly CK1, their unisex fragrances, released in 1994. They now boast over 20 fragrances in their range, some of which are sets and have matching complementary products.
Calvin Klein’s experience and dedication to their products has led to them creating some of the most famous and popular perfumes in the world, and the brand, along with its logos, branding and bottles, have become pop-culture icons, referenced in TV shows, films and books from around the world. Released in 2019, this is a fresh, floral, woody scent with a sweet and floral twist. Top notes of lemon, cassis, pink pepper and raspberry are both fresh and sweet, while the mid notes of orange blossom, peony, and rose are soft and sweet. The base of musk, ambroxan, cedar & incense give the woody feel and add a layer of depth to an otherwise light and airy scent.
The bottle appears to resemble an old-fashioned camera – a clear-glass, oblong bottle with the spray top to one side in a clear lid, looking like a flash.
This fresh and fruity unisex fragrance is light and distinctive and very popular. Top notes of lemon, green notes, bergamot, pineapple and mandarin orange give a zesty, lively opening which is smoothed by the mid notes of jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, violet, rose and freesia. The base of green accord, musk, cedar, sandalwood, oakmoss and green tea give the freshness for which this scent is known.
This now-iconic bottle is a classic, round-cornered rectangle in frosted glass, with the branding and logo printed on the front and a matte-silver, metallic screw-top.
