Valentine’s Day isn’t far off, and while he latest lockdown restrictions mean you can’t venture out for a date night, there’s nothing to say you can’t create your own special evening. There’s nothing better than getting cosy on the sofa with a film, and on 14th February it can only be a romantic film.
To help set the mood for the evening, we’ve put together some of the best movies for Valentine’s Day, with a perfume to match. After all, just because you’re staying in doesn’t mean you can’t make an effort!
Sweet November
Released in 2001, Sweet November follows the story of a man and a woman who meet one day through a chance encounter, not knowing that it will change their lives forever. Starring Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron, it is an emotional film following a love affair that was created by fate.
As well as her acting credentials, you will no doubt recognise Charlize Theron from the Dior J’Adore ad campaigns. Dior J’Adore is a golden, shimmering and floral bouquet, just right for a romantic night in.
Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman is one of the most iconic films of all time, with an unconventional plot that is incredibly heart-warming and funny. The relationship between Vivian and Edward, played by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, begins as a chance encounter than soon turns into so much more than just a business arrangement. Whether you’ve seen it before or not, it’s an absolute must for Valentine’s Day.
Julia Roberts is known for so many classic 90s films, and has also been the face of Lancôme La Vie Est Belle perfume. Complete your evening with its unique, floral scent and grab your popcorn.
Hitch
If you’re looking for a romantic film that’s a little more recent and is an easy watch, Will Smith has got just the thing you’re looking for. Hitch has become arguably one of his better films, as he makes a living off being a match-maker in New York. It’s only when he meets his own match unexpectedly, played by Eva Mendes, that he realises the true challenge of surviving the complications of love.
Set the mood perfectly with Calvin Klein Secret Obsession, which was launched just 3 years after Hitch and hires none other than Eva Mendes as the face of the campaign. With its oriental floral fragrance, it has a sensual scent that was made for a romantic night in.
Pride & Prejudice
A film that many of you will know from your school days, the Pride & Prejudice movie is based on the book by Jane Austen. Exploring themes of family and romance, the film stars Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet. It is a classic love story from the 1800s, featuring other big names like Rosamund Pike and Judi Dench. You might already know the story, but seeing it in film is a whole other experience.
Keira Knightley has starred in many popular films and other projects, including the face of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, with a very well-known advert in which she dries off on a motorbike. Sassy, feminine and irresistible, it’s the perfect fragrance for date night.
No Strings Attached
No Strings Attached is a romantic comedy, following the story of two friends who venture to the next stage of their relationship. Promising not to fall in love and to keep things physical, this film is slightly predictable but in all the best ways. It’s a perfect film to enjoy a glass of fizz and a takeaway with on a carefree evening.
No Strings Attached stars Natalie Portman, who was also the face of Miss Dior; an intoxicating and sensual fragrance with a heart of rose. You can’t get much more romantic than that.
