The Jo Malone Collection
This month we're very proud to welcome a collection of five fragrances by the luxury British brand Jo Malone. Although high-end, the Malone brand is a true British success story with its incredibly humble beginnings. Founded in 1983, Jo, who had grown up on a council estate, enlisted the help of her mother to start up her first business after leaving school with severe dyslexia and no qualifications.
Rising to fame for her now iconic scented candles, Miss Malone (CBE) sold to the multinational skincare titan Estée Lauder for “undisclosed millions” in 1999, but stayed on as creative director until 2006. There is no doubt that these exquisite, simple and refined perfumes are a cut above and below we'll walk you through the five we have on offer.
Cedarwood & Juniper is noted as being modern and urban, whilst also evoking the heart of the outdoors. The fragrance seductively conjures midnight rain and wet skin on the streets of London through a carnal touch of chilli leaves and cumin, the darkness and leathery aroma of cedarwood and the light humidity off moss and juniper.
Amber & Lavender is classic male perfumery refined, cultivated and cosmopolitan. The top note, petitgrain, from the leaves and twigs of the orange tree, opens the fragrance with clean luminosity. The heart note, French lavender, provides an aromatic quality with its hints of hay, camphor and honey. The base note amber gives the fragrance a sensuality and rounds it off with its warmth and wood.
Red Roses is clean and sheer like a bouquet of freshly cut flowers, unfolding with crushed violet leaves and a hint of lemon. Not surprising then that the fragrance is in fact a blend of seven of the world's most exquisite roses. Bright, rich and addictively sweet, Red roses is the essence of modern romance.
Basil & Neroli is London at its most fashionably young and fun. Fresh floral neroli and a vibrant peppery hint of basil form the top and heart notes. The base note white musk adds a soft cleanness and ensures the trail of the fragrance endures. These combine into a quintessentially British fragrance; playful, adventurous and full of life.
Nectarine Blossom & Honey is intended to connote London's Covent Garden early morning market. The top note, Cassis, is intensely juicy and ripe giving a crisp edge to the fragrance. The heart note of acacia honey suffuses the scent with its sweet accents of beeswax and blossoms. The base note peach adds a luscious succulence and brings a velvety softness to the texture. The fragrance is sweet and delightfully playful.
