Summer Sizzlers
The heat is up, the clouds have cleared (well, mostly), and the sandals and sun hats are back in vogue. Now all you need is some summery scents and you’ll be all set for the season.
This floral, woody musk was released in 2021 and is already making its mark. A feminine scent with a smoky undertone, it has a very adult aura about it. Top notes of pink pepper and mandarin orange are vibrant and fresh, and are smoothed down by the creamy combination of tuberose, tobacco, jasmine sambac, orange blossom and ylang-ylang in the mid notes. The base of guaiac wood, tonka bean, cedar, cashmere and suede adds extra freshness and depth.
The bottle is simple and classy – an elegant oblong with a twist slong one corner of the glass and a chunky black top embellished with metallic edging. The branding and logo are printed on the bottle front in black.
Calvin Klein – Eternity – Moment
This delightfully feminine, floral fragrance was launched in 2004. Fresh, light and complex, this is a scent with a lot to offer. Top notes of litchi, raspberry, melon and guava give it a fruity and sweet opening, which gives way to a delicate floral centre of Chinese pink peony, waterlily and passionflower. The base of Brazilian rosewood, musk, cashmere wood and sandalwood keep it fresh, light and perfect for the summer.
This bottle is an echo of its Eternity siblings, a long square of clear glass with the contents in peachy-pink on display. The topper on this edition is clear.
During the hotter months, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated. Using an aftershave balm can kill two birds with one stone. This aftershave balm, from fashion house, Dior, is the perfect example. “Radically fresh, raw and noble”, is how the Sauvage scent was branded, with top notes of Calabrian bergamot, a flowery middle and woody base notes.
Presented in a cylindrical bottle, with a fade from black to transparent, top to bottom, with the logos printed on the front in a white font. Typically Dior, understated and simple. Dior pull no punches with their design, allowing their fragrances to do the talking.
Guerlain – Mon Guerlain (Gift Set)
Mon Guerlain takes its inspiration from modern femininity. With aromatic top notes of bergamot and lavender, the fragrance bestows you a freshness upon your first encounter. Returning to the scent, you’ll find the feminine notes of rose, jasmine sambac and iris. A subtlety is found in the base notes of Tahitian vanilla and patchouli, although the scent is also given an oriental depth with liquorice, coumarin and benzoin adding a little spice.
The gift set contains a 50ml bottle of the perfume, in a transparent bottle, revealing the stunning rose coloured fragrance and a body spray with an additional 10ml EDP-S.
